What is Toviaz used for?
Toviaz is used to treat overactive bladder. It is a muscarinic antagonist which works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the bladder. Toviaz reduces leaking of urine, reduces the urgency to urinate immediately, reduces frequent bathroom visits and increases the ability to control urination.

How to use Toviaz?

Toviaz is an extended release formulation. It should be taken once daily at the same time each day. Toviaz is taken by mouth and can be taken with or without food. Toviaz tablets should be swallowed whole and should not be crushed, or chewed.
Common side effects are dry mouth and constipation. Dry mouth can be relieved by drinking lots of water, sucking on sugarless candy or ice chips or chewing gum. Constipation can be prevented by increasing fibre intake, drinking more water and exercising.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Your doctor needs to determine if the medicine passes into breast milk. It is not recommended for individuals with hepatic impairment.
