    What is Sandomigran?

Sandomigran is used to prevent the severity and frequency of vascular migraine headaches including cluster headache. This cannot be used to stop or prevent a Migraine in progress.

Sandomigran works by preventing blood vessels from temporarily changing size. This is the most common cause of migraine attacks. It can only treat vascular headaches caused by changes with blood vessels, it cannot be used to treat tension headaches. Tension headaches are not clearly understood, however they can occur in tandem with vascular migraines as well.

Do not share this medication with friends and family even if they have similar symptoms. This may not be a relevant treatment and may cause adverse reactions. Sandomigran is stored at room temperature, in a dry place out of reach of children and direct sunlight.

    Sandomigran (Pizotifen) Information

    How to Use Sandomigran?

When talking to your doctor or pharmacist about Sandomigran, they will likely inform you how often and how many should be taken. The manufacturer also provides a drug information pamphlet in their packaging. The dose can vary based on your condition, age, size and response to treatment.
Your doctor will monitor your medical condition to see if your condition improves. They may gradually decrease your dose if treatment looks promising. This is done to avoid “rebound headaches”. These occur when you become too reliant on pain medication.
You should not stop taking this once you feel better. Your doctor will instruct you when and how to decrease your dose and possibly discontinue the medication. You may need to be counselled on the withdrawal symptoms.
If the headaches return after a time, you may need to begin taking Sandomigran at your doctor’s discretion. You need to take Sandomigran consistently, every day, to get the best results. If you forget a dose you can take it once you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your schedule.
Do not take an extra dose to make up for one you missed. Taking more medication at once will not improve your condition and may lead to more severe or frequent side effects. Check with your doctor if you are concerned about missing doses or taking too much.
