What is Zometa?
Zometa is prescribed to treat hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in the blood). This sometimes occurs alongside types of cancer. It can also be used alongside chemotherapy to treat bone problems when cancer from other parts of the body spreads to the bones.

How Zometa works
Zometa works by reducing the amount of calcium released into your blood from the bones. It can also protect the bones from fractures by slowing down the breakdown of bones caused by cancer. It is classified as a bisphosphonate. They are often used to treat bone metastases and multiple myeloma.
