What is Welchol used for?
Welchol, along with other lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise, is used to treat high levels of cholesterol in the blood. High cholesterol contributes to an increased risk of heart attack, stroke and heart disease. It can also be used to reduce blood sugar for individuals with type 2 diabetes.
It works by reducing bile levels in the body. The liver produces extra bile to replace it which lowers cholesterol. It is not fully understood the connection between Welchol (Colesevelam) and how it lowers blood sugar.

How to use Welchol?
