How do I Use This Medication?
If available from your pharmacist read the Instructions for Use before you start using cyclosporine and when you get it refilled. If you have additional questions ask your physician or pharmacist. Use this medication as directed by your doctor. The normal dose is one drop twice a day about 12 hours apart in the affected eye. For eye drop application wash your hands first. Do not touch the tip of the dropper or allow it to come in contact with your eye or any surface. Make sure the eyedrops are well mixed before use by turning the vial upside down before use. The eye drops should be milky and white in appearance. If you wear contact lenses ensure you take them out before administering eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes after taking the drops to replace your lenses. Look upward and tilt your head back, pull down on your lower eyelid so that it makes a pouch. Hold the dropper over your eye and put one drop in the pouch. Look down and close your eyes gently, place one finger near the inner corner of your eye and apply gentle pressure for 1-2 minutes before opening your eyes. This makes sure the medication doesn’t drain out. Try not to rub your eye or blink. If you take this medication in both eyes repeat for your second eye. Replace dropper cap after each use and do not rinse the dropper. If you use another type of eye medication wait at least 15 minutes before application of other medications. Use eye drops first and then ointments. Wait for your vision to clear before driving or operating heavy machinery or doing any task that requires clear vision. To gain the most benefits from this medication use it regularly. If you are using the vial form discard of the open vial after use, do not save it for later usage. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if your condition worsens.
