This medication is prescribed for chronic constipation when other medications (such as laxatives) used to treat constipation have not been able to provide relief. Prucalopride can improve how well your intestines and stomach move food through the bowels during digestion.
How do I use this Medication?
Take this medication as directed by your doctor , either with or without food usually once a day. The dosage is based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and age. 2mg per day is the typical dose and this medication should be used regularly to gain the most benefits from it. If after three to four days you do not experience relief from your constipation tell your doctor. Your doctor may add additional medication temporarily for fast relief of constipation. Carefully follow your doctor’s instructions for use of any additional medications in conjunction with Resolor. Consult your doctor regarding how long you should take this and any other medications for chronic constipation relief.
Does this Medication Have Side Effects?
During the first day or two of treatment abdominal pain, nausea, headache or diarrhea can commonly occur along with dizziness or tiredness. However if these effects get worse or continue past one or two days tell your doctor promptly. Your doctor has assessed the risks and benefits of this medication when prescribing it and has decided that the benefits to you are greater than the risks of side effects. Most people taking this medication do not experience serious side effects. If you have any serious side effects including fast or irregular heartbeat tell your doctor as soon as possible. If you experience any of these serious side effects: bloody diarrhea, rectal bleeding, severe or persistent abdominal pain. Very rarely, there are some people who will experience a very serious allergic reaction to this drug. If you notice any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction get medical help immediately: itching/swelling (especially of the tongue/throat or face), rash, trouble breathing, dizziness. This list of side effects is not complete, if you experience any other side effects contact your doctor or pharmacist.
What Precautions Should I Take?
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to prucalopride before taking it; or if you are allergic to anything else. There may be inactive ingredients in this product which can cause allergic reactions or other issues. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history especially of any of the following issues: heart problems (previous heart attack, irregular heartbeat), liver disease, kidney problems, stomach/abdominal disorders (such as ileus, Chrohn’s disease, intestinal perforation/obstruction, ulcerative colitis) or diabetes. This drug can cause dizziness, and consuming marijuana or alcohol with this medication can make you more dizzy. Do not use machinery, drive, or do anything requiring alertness until you can perform the actions safely. If you are using marijuana speak with your doctor. If severe diarrhea occurs and you are taking birth control, additional birth control may be needed as your body may not fully absorb the contraceptive. This can increase risk of pregnancy. This medication should only be used during pregnancy if and when it is clearly needed. Consult with your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks. This medication is known to pass into breast milk, consult with your doctor before breastfeeding. Do not stop start or change the dose of this medication without consulting your health care provider.
Are there any Drug Interactions?

What if I Overdose?
If someone has symptoms such as trouble breathing or passing out they may have overdosed and you should immediately contact 911 or poison control.
Do not share this medication with others it has been prescribed by your doctor for your specific medical conditions.
What if I Miss a Dose?
If a dose of this medication is missed take it when you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose skip the one you missed and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose in an effort to catch up.
How do I Store This Medication?
This medication should be stored away from moisture and light at room temperature. This medication should not be stored in the bathroom and should be kept away from all children and pets. Unless you’re instructed to do so do not flush medication down toilet or pour it down the drain. When it is no longer needed or expires contact your pharmacist or local waste disposal company to find out how to discard it.
