Estrace and Progynova contain the active ingredient Estradiol which is a type of estrogen hormone. Estrogen hormone is made naturally in females but the levels reduce during menopause. This is a hormone replacement therapy for postmenopausal women women. This can cause lower estrogen levels which can have health consequences. It reduces menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness. It is often recommended for short term use.
