This medication is used to treat acne. It combines Adapalene and Benzoyl peroxide which work together in different ways. Adapalene acts on the skin process that causes acne. Benzoyl peroxide works softening and peeling the outer layer of skin as an antimicrobial agent.
What are the Side Effects?
Side effects may present themselves in individuals though not everyone experiences them, many people use Epiduo without side effects. Some of the following common side effects may occur: local skin rash, redness, irritation of the skin, scaling, dry skin, burning sensation. Some of these uncommon side effects may appear: sunburn, itching of the skin. If you notice those symptoms or any of the following consult your doctor: allergic contact reactions, pain of skin, swelling face or eyelids, blisters, difficulty breathing, tightness in throat, skin discolouration. This is not an exhaustive list of side effects, if you notice any other side effects contact your doctor immediately.
What Precautions Do I Take?
Do not use Epiduo on areas where you have sunburn, scrapes, cuts or eczema. Epiduo should never come in contact with eyes, nose or mouth and other very sensitive areas. Should this occur wash these areas immediately with warm water. Avoid getting the medication on hair or coloured fabric as it may bleach them. Do not use other acne products at the same time as Epiduo. Do not use with cosmetics that are irritant, exfoliate, or drying to the skin. Epiduo should not be used during pregnancy, it can be used during breastfeeding but do not apply on the chest. Do not share this medication or use it on areas other than where your doctor has advised.
Are there Any Drug Interactions?
Keep a list of all medications and products you are taking and inform your doctor of all of them. Do not use at the same time as other acne products containing benzoyl peroxide or retinoids. Do not use Epiduo at the same time as cosmetics that are irritant, exfoliate the skin or are drying. Tell your doctor or pharmacists if you’ve recently used or are using any other medications.
What if I Take Too Much?
If you take too much Epiduo it will not get rid of acne faster. If any of the following happen contact your doctor immediately: if you’ve used more Epiduo than you should have, if a child has taken this medicine, if you have accidentally swallowed the medicine.
What If I Miss A Dose?
Use Epiduo as soon as you remember you’ve missed a dose. If it is close to the time of your next dose take only one dose at the correct time. Do not take a double dose to catch up.
How Do I Store this Medication?
Keep this medicine away from pets and children. Do not store above room temperature. When this medication is no longer needed or expired contact a pharmacist or waste disposal to get instructions on disposal.
