Competact is prescribed for use in adults who have type 2 diabetes. Competact is generally used in patients whose diabetes isn’t adequately controlled on metformin alone.
Competact contains pioglitazone and metformin. Pioglitazone works by making the cells more sensitive to insulin so that the body can more effectively use insulin it produces. Metformin works by inhibiting the production of glucose as well as its absorption in the gut. As a result of these actions by both active substances, the blood glucose gets reduced and this helps in controlling type 2 diabetes.
