How to Use Budesonide?
If you are self-treating using the over-the-counter version of budesonide formoterol, read and follow the directions on the packaging before you use the medication. If you’re using the prescription version of this medication read the information provided with the medication before you start it and whenever you get a refill. Budesonide spray is intended for use in the nose, generally 1-2 sprays in each nostril once or twice daily or as otherwise directed by your doctor. Avoid getting the budesonide spray in your eyes. Gently blow your nose before using budesonide spray. Gently shake the container before each use.
If it’s your first time using this or you haven’t used it for over 2 days follow the priming instructions. If you haven’t used the pump in over 2 weeks follow the instructions to clean and prime the budesonide spray pump. Use the budesonide spray by removing the plastic cap, close one nostril by pressing it with your finger and tilt your head forward. Keep the bottle upright and carefully insert the applicator into the opposite nostril. Firmly press down on the pump and spray as directed by your doctor while breathing in through your nose gently. Keep your mouth closed. Don’t spray Budesonide Formoterol directly onto the middle wall of your nose.
After you spray, remove the applicator from your nose and tilt your head back so that the medication will spread over the back of your nose. Repeat these steps in the other nostril, wipe off the applicator and put the cap back on. Don’t blow your nose for 15 minutes after using the Budesonide spray. Your doctor will prescribe your dose based on age, response to treatment, and medical condition. You will get the most benefit from Budesonide Formoterol by using it consistently, take it at the same time daily to aid your memory.
Use the medication as frequently as directed by your doctor, using it more often will not help your condition improve faster and can increase the risk of side effects. Budesonide spray won’t work immediately; it can take from 1-2 days to up to 2 weeks to feel the full effects of this medication. Ask your pharmacist if you should supplement Budesonide Formoterol with other medications until it takes full effect.
If your child uses Budesonide spray more than 2 months a year talk to your doctor. Keep track of the sprays you’ve used from the bottle and discard as soon as you’ve finished the number of sprays specified on the manufacturer’s packaging. Do not add remaining medication into another container. If the budesonide spray tip becomes blocked follow the package instructions for unblocking. If after 2 weeks your condition is the same or worse go seek medical attention.
