What is Aviane used for?
Aviane is an oral contraceptive containing the active ingredients levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol which are female hormones used to prevent pregnancy. This does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases. You should still practice safe sex. For the first week use conventional methods of birth control such as condoms. Take your birth control pill every day until the pack is empty. There are seven reminder pills per pack. You are meant to start the sunday after menstruation or the day of your period to account for contraception or ovulation prior to starting the medication ought to be considered.
Side effects may include nausea (especially when you first start taking it), headache, stomach cramping, bloating,swelling and redness in the arm or leg, freckles or darkening of facial skin and changes in weight or appetite. Acne may improve or worsen. During the first few months of using Aviane vaginal bleeding in between periods and missed or irregular periods may occur.
