It is taken orally with food as often as your doctor prescribes. Your dose will vary depending on your condition but it is often once every 12 hours for 3 days. For pediatric use, most doctors will recommend the oral suspension as opposed to the tablets for children under 12 years of age.
Your daily dose should be consistent to ensure that you have a constant level of medication. Try to take it at regular planned intervals. If you cease treatment early, your infection may return. If you do not notice an improvement, or if your condition worsens, call your healthcare professional.
Do not take more medication that what your doctor recommended. Taking too much medicine can lead to an increased risk of experiencing adverse effects. If you miss a dose you can take it when you remember. If it is always time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your schedule.
