    Cortef Information

    How to use Cortef (Hydrocortisone)?

Always read and understand the patient information guide provided with the product before you begin taking Hydrocortisone. When you buy Cortef online from Your Canada Drug Store, we always send the products in the manufacturer’s packaging.

Hydrocortisone should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor.  It should be taken with a full glass of water with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. The dosing and duration will vary based on your condition. Do not stop taking this suddenly. If you miss a dose you can take it when you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next one.

Do not increase your dose unless instructed by our doctor. Taking extra doses can increase your risk of side effects and may not provide you any benefit. Call your doctor or doctor or pharmacist if you do not notice the expected results.

When Cortef is stopped suddenly some conditions may worsen and withdrawal symptoms can occur.  When stopping cortef, your dosage may need to be gradually decreased especially if you are on a high dose or if you have been taking it for a long time. Some withdrawal symptoms are muscle pain, weakness, headache, tiredness and weight loss.  Do not toss medications down the toilet. Talk to your pharmacist for proper disposal advice.
