Ciprodex Ear Drops (Ciprofloxacin Dexamethasone) Information

    Use of Ciprodex Ear Drops?

Your doctor may prescribe this medication twice daily (every 12 hours). It is important to use this medication after cleaning and drying the ear canal.

Make sure another person inserts the drops if possible to ensure accuracy and prevent contamination. You can minimize dizziness by holding the container in your hand for a few minutes before use.

Be sure to wash your hands before applying ear drops. Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch any surface other than your ear before applying. Shake the container well before using.

Treatment for middle ear infections in children with ear tubes involves lying the child on their back with the treated ear upward. Place the prescribed number of drops in the ear canal while holding the dropper directly over the ear.

Next gently press down 5 times in a pumping motion on the cartilage that partially covers the opening to the ear. This will allow the medicine to pass through the tube in the eardrum and into the middle ear.

Keep the head tilted with the treated ear upward for at least 1 minute or insert a soft cotton plug if so directed.

When treating outer ear infections, the patient should lie down with the treated ear upward. Place the prescribed number of drops in the ear canal while holding the dropper directly over the ear.

Adults should gently pull up and back their earlobes while placing drops in their ears so that the drops can flow down into the canal. When treating children, gently pull the earlobe down and back for at least a minute while tilting the head upwards with the treated ear facing upwards.

In the event that the other ear is directed to be treated, repeat the above steps and replace the cap afterwards. Do not rinse the dropper.

For the best results, you should take this medication regularly. For ease of remembering, take it at the same time every day. Despite the disappearance of symptoms, keep taking it as prescribed. The bacteria may continue to grow if this medication is stopped too early, resulting in a relapse.

Once you have been treated for 7 days, let your doctor or pharmacist know if your condition persists or gets worse. After treatment, report any fluid found in the ear.

Eye contact should be avoided. Store at room temperature away from children and animals when not in use.
